Finding A Photo

For most jobs Stanley provides a CD following your event.  The CD has the name of your event, the date of the event and all the contact information should you need it.  When you later try to find your images the cover of the CD alone helps clue you as to what is on the CD.  (See example #1)

Example #1

While you get a copy of this CD, Stanley makes a duplicate as a backup for security purposes.  He encourages everyone to make a duplicate as well for backup. Usage rights of the images are negotiated prior to the assignment.

Each image is high resolution JPEG 2000x3000 pixels or JPEG 4288x2848.  Each image has been reviewed for color, brightness and rotated for proper viewing.

For most editorial assignments Stanley provides photo identification embedded into the image.  This helps you later when trying to write a cut-line for your newsletter or just trying to match the photo with the person in a story.

One of Stanley's clients has 500 plus new portraits made every year and many of the faces are new each year.  The office staff has come to use the identification to match the head shots to bios.  This information helps those who have never met the people match the photo to the name.

Here is an example of what this looks like for you when you are using PhotoShop to view the images.  You just go to the menu option Menu>File Info to pull down the box.  (See example #2)

Example #2

If you have trouble finding photos this should really peak your interest, especially if you are one who has many photographs taken throughout the year and need to maintain an image archive.  The file information which Stanley has already put into every photo is also recognizable by most all image archiving software like Extensis or Cumulus.  The file information box of Photoshop is known as IPTC for short.

Here is example of the same example of the photo in PhotoShop now in Cumulus.  (See example #3)

Example #3

As you can see the information is the same.  Because Stanley has done all this work, after setting up the software like Cumulus to recognize IPTC then you only need to drag the folder from the CD which Stanley provided to you into the database software and let it ingest the images.  You will not have to add any information if you choose.  Your name of the event is searchable and you can find people because you can search the caption for names.

Stanley is helping you increase the value of his service to you.  You now can find a photo within seconds.  If you choose to save all the images on a server, then the artist only need to click and have the photo into their design with in just a second.  At the most they will have the name of the CD to locate and once the CD is in the computer you can just drag the photo from the Database straight into your document.

Today we must be good stewards of our budget and resources.  Since Stanley has done most of the data entry, he has saved you many hours which translate into savings.

Stanley's photos are worth more to his clients because there is more than meets the eye.  Each photo has so much information you can use through computer software to improve your photography collections value for years to come.

Stanley does consulting work for those needing to do image archiving.  Give him a call for your imaging needs 770-998-3504.
