Black Star RISING

Black Star picture agency and the history of photojournalism have been inseparable from each other for decades. Photojournalists condense "decisive moments" into dramatic and complex symbols. Black Star photographers, like Stanley, have seen themselves in this tradition since the mid-1930s. They travel the globe in order to be present constantly where world events are happening, to tell stories with their pictures, to lend a voice to the silent and oppressed and to capture situations and atmospheres in unique and powerful expressive images.
Stanley has been working with Black Star since the mid 80s.

The National Press Photographers Association was founded in 1946. In the first issue of National Press Photographer (published in Boston, Mass. in April 1946), an editorial on the front page proclaimed, "With this issue is born a voice, one that has been mute much too long."

Sports Shooter began in 1998 as an e-mail newsletter. The newsletter originally was passed along to a handful of sports photographers, photojournalists and colleagues as a way to share experiences, insight, concerns and rants about the state of sports photography.

Over time, Sports Shooter grew to include more than 7,000 subscribers and countless editorial contributions from professional sports photographers who donated their time and shared their wealth of information.

Pro Bono Work

The Heart Gallery Southeast is a collaborative effort between Gift for a Child, Georgia Department of Family and Children Services, Mississippi Department of Human Services and the Tennessee Department of Children Services. The Heart Gallery Southeast Program is an adoption education and recruitment program of Gift for a Child.  The Heart Gallery is designed to raise awareness and educate the community concerning the urgent need for foster and adoptive families in Southeast states, especially boys and girls for whom finding forever families is more difficult:  sibling groups, special needs, minority and older children.  Professional photographers photograph foster children whose parental rights have terminated for an exhibit designed to recruit prospective adoptive families.
Stanley has worked with Heart Gallery of Georgia Since 2006.

Each month our volunteers transform hospital playrooms, waiting areas and even hallways into photography studios. Talented make-up artists help the children and their moms look and feel their best. Then each child is photographed individually and with their closest supporters - siblings, parents and often a favorite nurse.
For a few moments, it doesn't seem like a hospital. Children who haven't wanted to get out of bed are suddenly laughing and smiling. And, nurses take a break from administering medicine to join in the fun. The atmosphere has been compared to a birthday party and Dr Joanne Hilden of The Children's Hospital, The Cleveland Clinic said it makes the teenagers feel like it's prom day!
Each family is presented with framed enlargements, proofs and a CD of all the images so they can make additional prints. Thanks to the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, all services are provided free of charge.
A Flashes of Hope portrait is much more than a picture on the wall. It's an indescribable treasure that forever preserves the grace, dignity and beauty of each child.
Stanley has worked with Flashes of Hope since 2006.

Since 1993 I have been working with this lab. I have tried many others around the country and have found their service to be superior to all the rest. One of my favorite products they offer is their photo books.

This is the compnay I use for my postcards and business cards.
